Message from the Head of School
Thank you for your interest in Kirk Day School. You will learn much about our school from this web site. We invite you to come in and discover the distinctives of the education provided at KDS.
Our school motto, Training Heirs of the Covenant for Kingdom Service, flows from our mission, which says, in part, that we assist Christian parents in the nurture of covenant children…training them… to be disciples of Christ, impacting His world. That is, we really are about helping you train your heirs (who are thereby heirs of God’s covenantal promises to you and to your children after you) to be soldiers in His Kingdom!
Scripture teaches us to teach our children diligently (Deut. 6:4-7.) Christian parents have explicitly and implicitly in God's Word their marching orders for education. While we have the freedom to delegate certain portions of the task to others, we must do so with great care. At Kirk Day School, we take the responsibility very seriously. We see that responsibility in these three ways:
Biblical Worldview
The purpose of KDS is to teach children to see things from God’s perspective. That means we diligently teach students to know God’s world well and to sift everything they learn through the grid of God’s Word. Our goal is that they will be trained to learn about God explicitly through the study of His Word and implicitly through the study of His world, and that they might be able to apply that knowledge to make sense of the issues of life, thereby making an impact on the world for Christ.
In God’s Image
We recognize that students, created in God’s image, have a mandate from Him to rule the earth and subdue it. This has implications for every area in the school, from curriculum design and specific educational practice to evaluation and measurement and classroom management. All that we do at KDS is designed to bring glory to God by striving to be in harmony with God’s purposes for His people.
Excellence
We are pleased to hold accreditation by both Christian Schools International and the North Central Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. Our evaluators gave us highest commendations for excellence in organization and curriculum. Our collective student achievement test [CTP4-ERB] scores rank consistently in the top 10% of the nation. More than these, however, we are thankful to have an excellent faculty of men and women who have demonstrated diligence in teaching and commitment to nurturing our students in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
We would love to meet with you in person and discuss how we may serve your family. Again, thank you for your interest in Kirk Day School. We look forward to hearing from you.
In Kingdom Service,
