Coaching At Kirk Day School

Kirk Day School needs parent volunteers to act as coaches or assist sports teams. Please contact Chris Pitts, the Athletic Director, if you are interested in becoming a Head or Assistant coach.

A coaches’ meeting is held prior to the start of each season. This meeting will outline expectations and rules for the players and coaches. Once the schedules for a season are finalized, each team at KDS is expected to play every game. Although emergencies happen, each player has made a commitment to the school, the league, and their teammates. Therefore, it is vital that everyone makes a strong effort to be present at every game. Games can only be rescheduled through the Athletic Director.

Team coaches are the primary contact for parents with questions about schedules, practices, rules, uniforms, etc. However, the Athletic Director is available to assist the coaching staff if necessary. If assistance is needed in coaching a game, contact the Athletic Director at athletics@kirkdayschool.org.

Coaching Requirements:

  • Fifth and Sixth-grade coaches are required by the CYC League to take a “Playing Like a Champion Today” class. The cost of this class will not be covered or reimbursed by KDS.

  • Coaches must obtain a CYC card. Please do this prior to the beginning of your season.

Please Note:

Coaches may be reimbursed for purchases of accessories or additional gear they may need, pending approval from the Athletic Director. Reimbursements will be based on each sport’s overall budget. Anything purchased without approval must be purchased by the coaches themselves-these purchases will not be covered by or reimbursed by KDS.

Links to applicable equipment and coaching gear will be sent to coaches prior to the start of each season.
